Meet Makayla Malaka
Makayla Malaka, Born June 27th 2012, is an amazing fun-loving artiste whose music and lifestyle continue to inspire and encourage all those who come in contact with her brand, both children and adults alike.
She has over the years been able to balance her music and academics with discipline, diligence and unwavering support from her parents and team.
Makayla’s love for music started when she was just four years old after contact with the works of the King of pop himself, Michael Jackson. She started recording her own music at the age of 6 and released her first single as a recording artist ‘Just Dance’ at the age of 7.
She later went on to release her first studio album titled ‘Eight’, on her 8th birthday and much to her surprise and delight, the album recorded a few fan favourites like Grandma told me, Just Dance and Give Me Food.
Makayla has ever since remained consistent and has released a new body of work every year on June 27th which also marks her birthday.
After the release of her fourth album in 2023, Makayla decided to focus on rap as she found a connection with the genre and as a means of developing her skills, she has consistently released a rap remake of popular tunes every week, something she terms REFIXES, with some of them getting millions of views on her social media channels.
Her latest album 12, which was released on June 27th 2024, her 12th birthday, marks her first all rap album and according to her, it is the first of many more to come.
